About Us

The Dispatcher Digital Imaging Project is a 100% volunteer effort that consists of one dedicated casual dockworker/computer geek in Seattle, who serves as its web worker—the term webmaster has always rubbed me the wrong way—and a few longshoremen in several of the West Coast ports, who serve as an informal advisory committee. We offer this educational resource to ILWU members and to any and all working people who might find it useful.

As the website grows, we hope to be able to include every issue of The Dispatcher since the ILWU started publishing the paper. It’s a lot of work, and we do it in our spare time, so be patient with us while the site is under constant construction and re-construction.

We think this revised edition, updated in November 2004, represents a big improvement over the old site. We hope you enjoy it.

As we said, this website is a rank-and-file project, and it isn’t officially authorized or endorsed by the ILWU or anybody else. Please read our Disclaimer.
