The Fine Print

The Dispatcher Digital Imaging Project is an informal, volunteer-based, not-for-profit initiative. It’s a website being built and maintained by RANK AND FILE waterfront workers. It’s intended solely as an educational resource for ILWU members, other trade unionists, labor history students, and anybody else who might be interested.

Any opinions, errors, omissions or inaccuracies found herein are the sole responsibility of TheDispatcherProject.net and/or its volunteers, and in no way reflect the official policy of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union, its officers, affiliates or any individual member thereof.

TheDispatcherProject.net does not have the official sanction or endorsement of the ILWU International, nor of any ILWU Local, although it does contain an archive of historic issues of the ILWU’s official union newspaper.

In plain English, the volunteers of The Dispatcher Digital Imaging Project speak for ourselves alone, in an individual capacity, and our opinions are not to be construed, by implication, inference or otherwise, to represent the official or unofficial position of the ILWU as a whole or in part. Any errors of fact or interpretation made on these pages are our mistakes and ours alone, not anybody else’s.

The issues of The Dispatcher presented herein were obtained from microfilms held in the Microform and Newspaper Collections of the Suzzallo Library at the University of Washington, Seattle. They were then converted into Adobe® Acrobat® Portable Document Format (PDF) files for ease of use via the internet.

Because the publications presented here are already available for everyone’s use in the library of a public university, we assume them to be historical documents within the public domain; and because TheDispatcherProject.net derives no profit from their dissemination, we further believe that under the “fair use doctrine,” we the volunteers of TheDispatcherProject.net are therefore within our rights to make them more readily accessible to the general public for educational use.
